Freddy Sharpe

CEO

Freddy Sharpe is CEO of Climate Friendly, Australia's leading carbon management business.  Freddy has worked in sustainability and climate change solutions for many years and has grown Climate Friendly into a global business leading the way on climate change, delivering easy and innovative carbon solutions to businesses and individuals.  Before running Climate Friendly, Freddy was Chief Operating Officer of Australia's largest residential energy efficiency company. 

Freddy has hands-on expertise in carbon markets, carbon and energy policies, energy efficiency and clean and conventional energy, developed in Australia and internationally for over 20 years. Freddy speaks regularly on climate change and related topics and was included in the inaugural ABC Carbon 50, a list of the 50 most influential people in Australia who are committed to the environment, the planet and the future of life on earth.

Joel Fleming

Founding Chairman (Innovations & Partnerships)

Joel Fleming is an environmental scientist and Founding Chairman of Climate Friendly and previously a scientist with CSIRO. His background is in environmental science, scientific software and innovation.  Joel has a lifelong passion for environmental issues and built one of Australia's first grid-connected solar powered homes; also one of the most energy efficient. This inspired Joel to create Climate Friendly.

His special interest is to enable business and individuals to take immediate and effective action on global warming by supporting projects that reduce emissions, including renewable energy and preventing deforestation. His focus is on innovations that address the challenges of global warming, such as new kinds of clean energy products and web based systems that deliver Climate Friendly's products and services to a global customer base.

Mike Tournier

General Manager Europe

Mike heads up Climate Friendly’s London office as General Manager Europe. Mike is a well-known and respected industry leader who combines his technical knowledge and business skills to help clients maximise their investment in sustainability. He has worked with governments, major corporations, banks, services providers and non-profit organisations. 

Mike’s previous roles include: Executive Director and CEO of the Carbon Market Institute, Australasia’s Peak Industry body for Carbon Professionals; Global Sales and Marketing Director for Zurich-based project developer, South Pole Carbon and Business Manager for the New Zealand government’s internationally-recognised ISO14065 GHG certification scheme.  

He has won numerous regional and national awards for Business and Sustainability and holds an MBA from Canterbury University in New Zealand. 

Mike Tournier

Junio Valerio Palomba

Senior Sales Manager - London

Junio has extensive international experience in project development and has also been the Account Manager for a number of the Group’s key UK clients. He has an excellent understanding of the markets needs and when combined with his technical knowledge of project development he excels in guiding clients through project selection processes and portfolio construction to meet their operational, financial and strategic needs.    

 He will be the primary person responsible for providing advice and support on all project-related issues, including identification and selection of projects, interfacing with project teams in the field, providing updates on project activities, and coordinating retirement.     

Junio has a BA, International Relations and a MScEcon from the University of Wales, Aberystwyth.

James Lewis

Marketing and Sales Director

James has worked at Climate Friendly for over 6 years and leads the Sales and Marketing team with great success.  

His background combines account management and business development with research and consultancy experience across a range of sustainability-related issues. He gained a MSc in Environmental Technology from Imperial College, London after several years in sales-based roles in both London and Sydney. 

Prior to Climate Friendly, James worked at The Institute for Sustainable Futures of The University of Technology, Sydney where he completed research and consultancy projects for private companies, Government departments and NGOs. These projects covered various sectors and themes, including research into the wind power industry, development of sustainability strategies, creation of training programs to improve energy efficiency and carbon footprinting services.

Darren Willman

Business Development Manager

Darren’s career vision is to make a positive impact on environmental and sustainability issues, and has focused this on business and climate change. Currently, he is a Business Development Manager for Climate Friendly, a leading organisation in carbon management and offsetting. Globally minded, Darren has co-published opinion-editorial articles and papers with IMD Business School (Switzerland) on global trends, business and climate change, and sustainable development. He applied this experience in founding and leading G-1 Billion, a multilingual news website that covered the United Nations climate negotiations in Copenhagen (Denmark), COP-15. 

He is a graduate of the University of London with a Master's degree in Environmental Management, and completed a research dissertation on the most common and significant energy efficiency opportunities identified and implemented in Australian industry. He has also completed a Bachelor of Commerce at Monash University.

Business Development Manager

Marty has a diverse background spanning twelve years in account management, customer service and sales operations. He has experience in energy efficiency solutions and the energy sector, having worked in solar PV sales and also in promoting Greenpower.Sharing a common goal of sustainable growth and environmental responsibility, he has a real passion in protecting marine life and ecology.He is a graduate of Macquarie University with a Batchelor’s degree in Economics (with a Marketing Major) and has also undertaken further studies in Small Business Management.

Justin Pilgrim

Business Development Manager- Melbourne

Justin recently completed a Bachelor of Environment (Social Science) at RMIT University and is a Business Development Manager at Climate Friendly. He has a strong background in sales and account management, with over ten years’ experience in the telecommunications industry.   Justin is very passionate about sustainability and his particular interests lie in advocating sustainability for the corporate sector as well as animal conservation. He has spent time in Vietnam as part of an original climate change research project and as such understands on the ground realities associated with climate change projects around the world. 

He believes that business and communities are best placed to tackle the problem of climate change quickly and without prolonged debate.

Wayne Lording

Business Development Manager- Melbourne

Wayne comes from an electronic engineering background during which he specialised in the management of Department of Defence Projects and led teams for the four largest worldwide IT companies. Wayne has worked both in Australia and overseas and in 2006 Wayne decided to start his own geothermal company’s and grew them with great success.

Wayne then became an advisor to the State and Federal governments on geothermal technology and other sustainability issues. Wayne also became very heavily involved in commercial and domestic energy auditing and helped to grow the Victorian Government Energy VEET Scheme. Additionally, Wayne is involved in men’s leadership development and management/business coaching. Wayne has a passion for helping humanity and the environment on a global scale.

Claire Verrot

Marketing Manager

For the past 6 years, Claire has used her business development, project management and strategic marketing skills to position organisations in the environmental field. She has worked in Europe and North America where she has developed a sustainable development plan for a worldwide company, developed a green research and development park and coordinated an innovative waste management project. 

Claire has also increased the wider community’s awareness of, and engagement with sustainability challenges through extensive use of social media platforms. As a passionate and involved person Claire follows with interest developments in the sustainability sector. Originally from France, she holds a Master of International Business and Administration.

Ally Charlton

Operations Director

As Operations Director, Ally is responsible for Climate Friendly’s carbon sourcing strategy, credit procurement, general operations and portfolio management. She also leads the technical analysis and product development associated with carbon management and footprinting. These activities underpin and ensure the high quality of Climate Friendly’s carbon offsetting and advisory services.

Ally’s background combines corporate strategy and finance consulting with hands-on environmental and social project management. She has extensive experience across diverse aspects of the climate change sector, having worked for several years with Carbon Positive / Sunshine Technology on the development of sustainable forestry ventures and carbon projects in Africa and Asia, and more recently as a strategy consultant for the Australian Carbon Trust. She is committed to the creation of business- and market-driven solutions to social and environmental challenges.

Originally from the UK, she lived for 3 years in Nairobi, Kenya prior to moving to Sydney in 2007. She has an MBA from INSEAD, and a BA in European Languages & Literature from Cambridge University.

Ally Charlton

Aude Perrine

Carbon Manager

Originally from France, Aude holds a Master of Engineering from EPF and a Master of Environmental Management from UNSW. 

She previously worked at Climate Friendly for a few years also on the carbon, but then spent some time in Cambodia working for Nexus-Carbon for Development, a cooperative of development organizations supporting vulnerable communities by scaling up climate-friendly projects. She has also worked as an Environmental Consultant, where she was carrying out waste audits for businesses and councils.

We are fortunate to have Aude back with us here on the Climate Friendly Carbon team. Now she is responsible more for the procurement of carbon credits and renewable energy certificates, as well as managing quality assurance relating to project due diligence and selection. She is also in charge of technical analysis and carbon footprinting for businesses and events. This includes ensuring that Climate Friendly’s calculations and emission factors are up to date and in line with global best practice.

Systems and Technical Projects Manager

Rob combines his passion and experience with qualifications in technology, sustainability and project management to help deliver powerful and user friendly solutions to Climate Friendly’s customers, staff and stakeholders.

Career experience working with a broad range of stakeholders in Australia, Asia and the United Kingdom has provided Rob with the tool-kit for cutting through complexity and getting to the “nuts-and-bolts” of an issue so projects can be delivered which satisfy requirements in this fast changing and varied landscape.

Josh Harris

Carbon Farming Development Manager

Josh is a carbon finance specialist with over a decade’s experience working on climate issues across private, government and non-government organisations.

Josh was the founding Director of both the Verified Carbon Standard and the International Carbon Reduction and Offset Alliance. He has advised large corporates on carbon management including Virgin Atlantic, BSkyB, BP, JP Morgan and Tesco and headed up the Climate Group’s carbon market team in China.  In his most recent role before joining Climate Friendly, Josh was an advisor to the Western Australian Environment Minister. 

Here at Climate Friendly, Josh is responsible for originating carbon farming projects in Australia.

Jeffery Hong

Finance Manager

Jeffery has been with Climate Friendly since 2009, he started as an accounts consultant and now works as the finance manager. His role in Climate Friendly is to utilise his management accounting and financial accounting skills to ensure the efficient and effective use of financial resources, improve the internal accounting processes to assure the quality and quantity of carbon offsetting, and report the financial performance to the internal management and external stakeholders.

 Prior to Climate Friendly, Jeffery worked at a consultancy company and has extensive accounting and finance experience in different industries. After achieving the Masters degree (honours) in Accounting and Finance, he is currently studying to complete his CPA.

Angel Zhan

Assistant Accountant

Angel Zhan is responsible for Climate Friendly's financial and management accounting and providing direct assistance to Finance Manager. Angel has a background combining auditing and accounting across diverse sectors in mainland China, HongKong and Australia.  She has several years' experience as senior auditor and assistant manager in KPMG. 

Angel is very passionate about employing her skills in her role within Climate Friendly.
